Structural thermal breaks prevent condensation and mold, reduce heat transmission loss through envelope penetrations, increase energy efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and reduce owner liability.Â
Reducing energy usage in buildings has become a focal point of the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry to meet national energy goals and reduce costs to building owners. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) contribute significantly to total building energy use, leading designers to pursue strategies for achieving better thermal performance.
Vibration damping dissipates vibration energy. It absorbs or changes vibration energy, reducing the amount of energy transmitted through the equipment or structure. Understanding these processes — and when to use them — also requires understanding two concepts: transmissibility and natural frequency.
Vibration isolation prevents vibration transmission. It keeps vibration energy from entering an object, such as a structure or piece of equipment.

TBF Thermal Break Foam is a high density, closed cell rigid polyurethane foam used as an effective thermal break for a variety of building envelope and cold storage applications. It is manufactured in several densities to support a range of load conditions.
Available in 4 different densities TBF-150, TBF-200, TBF-280 and TBF-310
STB-1 Thermal Break washers and bushings can be used on the warm face of the structure, and including a thermal break at the bolt connection will reduce heat loss an additional 4% per bolt, depending on the wall assembly connection. Without these thermal break solutions, condensation can occur on the bolt heads which can develop into damp and mold issues.

Vibsorb is a high capacity preformed cushioning pad fabricated using multiple layers of high quality cotton polyester duck fabric, completely impregnated with a high-grade nitrile compound. Finished Vibsorb Vibration Absorption pads will withstand compressive loads perpendicular to the plane of laminations of 10,000 pounds minimum per square inch without detrimental reduction in thickness or extrusion.

Vibsorb ROF PAD will substitute for neoprene in areas where vibration or heavier loads are present. The random fiber material is well suited to concrete construction as a cost-saving alternative to neoprene or preformed fabric pads. Type TTC materials may be provided with holes, slots or PTFE surfaces

Benchmark Stocks plain and shimmed bearings are available in standard Shore A durometers of 50, 60 or 70 based on state and/or AASHTO Code, Section 18, natural rubber or neoprene. For economy, a commercial grade is also available. Natural Rubber Elastomeric Bearings are made of an elastomer containing either natural rubber as the basic polymer. They are available primarily in 55 durometer hardness (Shore A) and meet the CAN/CSA-S6-06 standard, or in hardness meeting Ontario OPSS 1202. They can be molded or cut (from standard rolls) into a wide range of dimensions and thicknesses.
Neoprene Synthetic Elastomeric Bearing Pads are made of an elastomer containing neoprene (polychloroprene) as the base polymer. Neoprene Synthetic Elastomeric Bearing Pads are available primarily in 55 durometer hardness (Shore A) and meet the CAN/CSA-S6-06 standard, or in hardness meeting Ontario OPSS 1202.
Neoprene Synthetic Elastomeric Bearing Pads are available in roll form, sheet form or cut to specific bearing pad sizes with or without holes or slots.
Benchmark provides neoprene and natural rubber elastomeric bearing pads to provide structural support in bridges, as well as in commercial and industrial buildings, and petrochemical and power plants. These parts, depending on the type of elastomer, provide uniform load transfer, accommodate thermal movement, allow for end-beam rotation and isolate components of the structure against vibration, noise and shock. Benchmark produces both AASHTO-grade neoprene and AASHTO-grade preformed fabric pads. These can also be supplied with filled PTFE bonded to them for use as the lower element in a slide bearing, which will provide both the longitudinal movement and rotation required.

Vibsorb Waffle Vibration Dampening and Isolation Pads have a unique, two-sided design that allows the material to expand without significant creep and compromising on stability. Vibsorb Waffle pads are used typically for lathes, drills, milling machines and more. Waffle pads can be bonded to a wide range of thickness's and Benchmark will typically include steel shims to control shape factor. Available in a variety of densities from 25 PSI to 300 PSI
PTFE sliding bearing, sliding plate bearing, ptfe slide bearing plates, sliding bearings, ptfe slide bearings, teflon sliding plate, sliding bearing design, ptfe sliding plate, teflon slide bearing PTFE sliding bearings are an essential part of any load bearing structure that is likely to experience either thermal or mechanical movement. Vibsorb PTFE Slide Bearings are typically a 2 part assembly. The upper section is Stainless Steel bonded to carbon steel and the lower section is Vibsorb PTFE bonded to Carbon Steel.
PTFE Expansion Bearings come in a variety of formats including STC (#8 Mirror Finish SS upper and PTFE lower connection)) and TTC (PTFE upper and PTFE lower connection). PTFE Slide Bearing systems offer a low profile solution for allowing relative movement between structural elements.
Graphite slide plates can be used in place of PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plates for higher temperature applications. Pure Graphite Slide Plates are recommended for those systems which produce exceptional pressure and heat. With a range of up to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit for ambient conditions and 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit for inert settings, graphite slide plates can also handle up to 2,000 PSI
